Don’t be a statue.

Don’t be a statue. You’re not done yet.

Problems and challenges require you to be agile and flexible. Don’t be a statue. You can be steadfast, and consistent. But don’t be unyielding and cemented in place. There is a difference.

If you are already a statue find the places you used be able to bend and flex.  Treat this as an exercise regimen. Stretch and flex because there is work to be done. And a statue, however much we can appreciate it, is possibly representative of our highest moment in time. But statues are for the dead or who have completed their life's journey.

Get moving.  We can all appreciate your moment in time but there is a sea of change around you. You are a walking memory.  Get flexible!  There is work to be done, new achievements to enjoy. There is a new and improved you waiting to emerge.

What happens if you don't ?

Should you not want to exercise flexibility change will hit you anyway. Cracking your shell. Should this happen welcome it. It’s an invitation to change before you were prepared. But this was inevitable. Accept the invitation with gratitude as many of us need to be forced to change by external factors.

Don’t whine. You knew it was coming.  But because you did not stretch yourself or prepare for the work it will seem harder now.  Like my favorite Star Trek quote “resistance is futile”.   You must make the necessary changes in your business, in your leadership, and your ability to objectively assess both.

Still not on board?

You will otherwise face brokenness.  You will be a relic of the past, like the remnants of a civilization that was unable to adapt, or perhaps something to admire in a museum.  Is this appealing to you?

I know it is not. Let us all be open to change and the subsequent opportunity for growth that change offers.
